Leather
A quality shop apron starts with quality leather! At Forge-Aprons, we build our aprons with a mid-weight 5-6 oz, top-grain leather which includes the tough, outer epidermis. We use oil tanned leather that has been tumbled to make it supple. That means it is comfortable to wear right out of the box. Our standard color is a dark chocolate brown with pull-up distressing but, we offer other choices as well. See Customize.
Straps
Our aprons come standard with an X-Strap system that places the apron weight on the shoulders, not the neck. It is fully adjustable and removable. We send straps based on T-shirt size so our stock apron will fit size Small to 7X Tall. We also offer an optional Y-Strap system that places the apron weight on the hips. Both systems include our unique shoulder epauletts that prevent the straps from digging into your shoulders.
Thread
We utilize black Kevlar thread which has many advantageous properties.

Kevlar thread does not melt, it decomposes at around 800 F whereas Nylon and Polyester melt at 400 degrees.

Kevlar has almost twice the tensile strength.

Kevlar thread has little to no stretch, which helps hold a seam tight.
Though it costs three times as much, Kevlar is the only choice for Forge-Aprons.
Hardware
Our hardware has been chosen for its durability, convenience and style. Our unique stainless steel flame buckles definitely add style! As an option, we offer hand-forged buckles.
Our quick release snaps make getting in and out of a FORGE-APRON a snap! The strap system is fully adjustable and removeable - perfect for a blacksmiths arsenal of personal protection equipment.
Diamond Logo Pocket
Our unique diamond shaped pocket provides 3 openings at the top. Its an ideal place to keep items like grease pencils, calipers and glasses handy. The pocket is made of veg tan leather which provides contrast to our laser burned logo. It does patina with age. Optionally, it can be monogrammed or the anvil image replaced with your own image. If desired, you can replace the diamond logo with another pocket style or leave it off if you like
Protection
While inconspicuously appearing to be designed for holding soap stones, Forge Aprons logo pocket is secretly infused with super-powers that shield you from hot slag & stray projectiles. A Flying Spark Deflection Booster lies within the leather's smooth surface to combine with the leather's natural flame resistance. This ensures the only thing on fire, is the forge. Meanwhile, the leather's amazing strength and elasticity resists damage to the wearer. We even offer a variety of leather options, some for practical puposes and some for personal preference. You can even get an apron with-out pockets.

Forge-Aprons are proudly built in the USA. Our leather and supplies are purchased from US companies though they may source abroad.
Forge-Aprons was founded in 2015 and is operated by April Witzke, the wife of a professional blacksmith. The base location is Kanab, UT. But, thanks to a 43' fifth wheel trailer with a garage, Forge Aprons is mobile, traveling to blacksmith events and just enjoying the good ol' USA.
